Personalized Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine in Haymarket, Virginia

David Phelps

Nurse Practitioner and founder of Conquest Health

Meet Our Provider

David has always had a passion for caring for people in their darkest times and most critical illness. Prior to founding Conquest Health, David worked as an Adult Gerontology Acute-Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) in the Medical, Cardiac, and Neurological Intensive Care Units at a large teaching hospital in Northern Virginia. It was here that he learned to order and interpret diagnostic tests, formulate treatment plans and prescribe medications safely to treat critically ill patients.

It was also caring for these patients where he observed the overwhelming number of people who were hospitalized as a result of their psychiatric illness. This included everything from depression, self-neglect of chronic medical problems, suicide attempts, detrimental effects of addictions and more.

In a pursuit to learn how to best care for this population David continued his education and training to earn an additional board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). David has experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and addiction settings. In addition to his extensive medical background, he has learned the acute stabilization and preventative care aspects of caring for people with complex mental illness.

David believes that your overall wellbeing begins with a healthy mind and that quality, personalized psychiatric care can keep his patients out of the hospital and living their most meaningful lives.

Outside of his professional life, David enjoys country living, anything outdoors, and spending time with his wife, kids, and two dogs.
